Kicking Horse Ski Resort Guide & Piste Map
Kicking Horse Resort Description
Kicking Horse is Canadas newest and perhaps most exciting resort. Located in an area of great national beauty at the eastern side of British Columbia, surrounded by six national parks, it is conveniently located just off the Trans-Canada Highway, an easy two-and-a-half-hour drive from Calgary. The area was once heli-ski terrain but has now been developed as a lift accessed area. Huge high alpine bowls dominate the terrain, but excellent glades and groomers are plentiful all over the mountain. It has the 2nd longest vertical drop (4133 feet) in the Canadian Rockies and is 3rd biggest in Canada.
Kicking Horse actually has plenty of long gentle runs with nursery slopes at the bottom of the mountain, but once you have mastered the basics of turning and stopping, there's wonderful long easy trail snaking down the mountain from the top of the gondola all the way back to the base.
