Flaine Resort Description
Flaine is often overlooked by British skiers, yet it offers some of the best skiing in France. Many visitors return year after year to Flaine in order to enjoy the fantastic Grand Massif ski area in the Haute Savoie, with its 265kms of dazzling ski runs. Lying in a vast open snow bowl, the resort is renowned for excellent snow conditions and plenty of sunny days. Flaine is compact and purpose-built, with the village divided between two levels. Flaine Forum is the traffic free heart of the resort and is linked to Flaine Foret by two free funiculars, operating all day and night.
Flaine Today
Flaine is part of the Grand Massif ski area, one of the largest interlinked skiing regions in France with around 270km (of groomed runs. This also covers and links the neighbouring villages and resorts of Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt.
Originally, the resort consisted of two levels - Flaine Forêt and Flaine Forum - but a chalet development - Hameau de Flaine - was added later, and planned development in the next few years will add a new section called Flaine Montsoleil. The lift system is also scheduled for some major upgrades to deal with the influx of visitors.
La station de Flaine est souvent négligée par les skieurs anglais, alors qu’elle offre quelques unes des meilleures pistes de ski de France. De nombreux visiteurs retournent chaque année à Flaine pour profiter du fantastique domaine du Grand Massif en Haute Savoie, avec ces 265km de pistes éclatantes.
La station est connue pour ces excellentes conditions de neige et ces nombreux jours ensoleillés.
Elle est divisée en deux parties : Flaine Forum ne tolère pas les véhicules en centre-ville et est liée à Flaine Foret par deux funiculaires, fonctionnant de jour comme de nuit.
