Saalbach Hinterglemm Resort Description The second most popular destination in Austria (after the capital Vienna), Saalbach Hinterglemm offers some of the country's most exciting skiing and was the location for the 1991 Alpine World Championships, it is a municipality in the district of Zell am See (Pinzgau region), in the Austrian an easy drive from the city of Salzburg. Saalbach Hinterglemm has direct access to 200km of downhill skiing, with 60 individual pistes, served by 52 ski lifts, with enough on offer to keep everyone amused.The ski slopes are located on both sides of the Glemm Valley, so you can easily do a complete circuit of what the resort calls its ‘Ski Circus’ in a day. Like many Austrian resorts Saalbach-Hinterglemm has a pretty, traditional-style village and very lively nightlife. Saalbach's après-ski is very lively - and can get rowdy - and is dominated by Scandinavian and German visitors. It rocks from 3pm until the early hours non-stop.
