This chalet is a brand new chalet, designed in traditional chalet style by a renowned local architect, and located in the charming village of Tignes Les Brévières. The chalet is located near the centre of the village, 300 metres (5-6 minutes walk) from the ski lifts, and a short walk to the bars, shops and restaurants.
The chalet has been built using local timbers and stone, old timbers have been used where possible, and traditional Tarentaise details have been used throughout. The interior of the chalet has been meticulously detailed by a professional interior designer to ensure the highest quality of modern comfort within a distinctly traditional atmosphere
By designing and building the chalet from scratch, we have been able to provide as much space and comfort in the bedrooms as you would normally expect from a four-star hotel, and the size and variety of living spaces that you would want in a very large family home.
The chalet also benefits from flexibility of sleeping accommodation, and can take any size of group up to 12 adults (+ up to 6 children). Whether you are single, a family, or a larger party, you will be welcome at this chalet.
The Lounge/Dining (5.5m x 11m), on the top floor, with deep sofas and roaring log fire, provides the perfect atmosphere in which to relax. The exposed timber roof beams rise to an imposing five metres in height, and floor to ceiling windows frame breathtaking views across the valley to the pistes and peaks beyond.
The Library/Reading room (4.5m x 5.5m), with its own log fire and cosy armchairs, is a quiet place to read a book or newspaper in peace, make a private phone call or check your emails.
There is also a Basement Games room, with pool table, see below for details.
There are six double/twin bedrooms, three of which have separate children's bunk areas. All are traditionally furnished with every modern comfort. When booked as a double room, single beds are locked together and made up to form proper king-size beds. No more falling down the gap in the middle or separate duvets! Most bedrooms have balconies, and all are south facing with magnificent mountain views.
Every bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, plus a heated towel rail. There is no need to rush home from the piste for your turn of a cold shower in a communal bathroom, everyone gets to soak their aching limbs exactly when they want to. With brand new plumbing and hot water system (with oversized tanks), you are guaranteed a hot bath, even if everyone baths at the same time.
Upper Bedroom Level
* Bedroom 1 (Family suite): double/twin bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, plus large private lounge, separate bunk area, sofa bed, and south facing balcony. Note on Bedroom 1: This has been designed as a self-contained suite within the overall chalet, and therefore is the ideal place for a family - you have your own living space in additio n to full use of the chalet facilities. For larger groups that fill the chalet, this room can also be booked as the sixth double bedroom, and will be allocated to one lucky couple (probably the group leader's perk)
* Bedroom 2: double/twin room, en-suite
Lower Bedroom Level
* Bedroom 3: double/twin room with children's bunks (separated from bedroom area), en-suite, south facing balcony
* Bedroom 4: double/twin room, en-suite, south facing balcony
* Bedroom 5: double/twin room, en-suite, south facing balcony
* Bedroom 6: double/twin room with children's bunks (separated from bedroom area), en-suite
Basement Games Room
The Games Room (5.5m x 7.5m), is the place to let loose, shoot some pool, watch a big match or just be loud. It's also the perfect place for children to be banished to, while the adults relax around the log fire in the lounge or should that be the other way around! It has its own drinks' fridge so you don't need to miss any of the action getting ref ills.
SERVICES AND FACILITIES
As this Chalet doubles as our holiday home, we have made every effort with no expense spared to equip the chalet to our own high standards, and to provide the facilities that we want for ourselves. We have included a number of luxury extras that are available to every guest when staying with . Over time we intend to add to these, and will be asking people during the season what additional services and facilities would be most welcome. Top of the list of ideas for the future is a steam room with hot tub to soak away the day's exertions.
Pool Table / Table Football: Rather than go down to smoky bars and wait your turn, we have included a pool table and table football in our downstairs Games room. Both these are free play. There is also a fridge to stock up with beers for the match and other cold drinks.
Television: Although we all want to get away from it whilst on holiday, there are times when a TV set is use ful (6 Nations Rugby and Champions League Football to name but two). We have therefore provided a TV in the games room, which also offers the full Sky Sports & Movies package. There is also a hi-fi system, a video and a large selection of movies (over 100).
Internet/Office Facilities: For those people who need to keep in touch with the real world, we have provided access for email and internet use in the library.
Guest telephone: In order that you can be contacted and able to call out, we have installed a dedicated guests telephone line in the library. Payment for this will be on a metered basis at cost.
Newspapers/Books/Board Games: The quaint library is also the ideal place to spend a quiet time reading the paper. In addition, the library holds a small collection of books - including an interesting one on the history of Tignes before the dam was built - and some board games for those bad weather days.
Food & Wine: We provide catered accommodation. Please check the Food & Wine section for more details.
Duvets and Pillows: All our pillows and duvets are made from natural feathers/down and not polyester or other man made fibres. Synthetic pillows available for those with allergies to feathers.
Linen Change: Hand and bath towels and all linen are provided and will be changed at least once per week. Each en-suite bathroom also has a heated towel rail. See the Chalet La Sache section for a full description of the accommodation.
Parking: There is private off-road parking for 3 cars at the chalet. Brévières also has two large free car parks.
Skiing Related Facilities
Boot Warmers: As we all like nice warm boots in the morning, we have put in a professional set of boot warmers (that also deodorise!). The machine holds up to 15 pairs of boots and works on a timer so that the boots will be warm and comfortable in the morning.
Shuttle From Piste: Although the chalet is only 300 metres from the piste, some 5-6 minutes walk, we appreciate that young children (or exhausted adults) may prefer to be shuttled back to the chalet after skiing. Our intention is that there will be one pick up in the late afternoon after the slopes close at a set time for anyone who needs it. We can also arrange a drop off in the morning for families with small children, but most guests would be expected to wander down themselves.
Ski Workshop Area: For those of you who enjoy servicing your own skis, we have included an area available to all guests who wish to repair, service or wax their own skis. Equipment includes a basic bench with proper ski vices to hold the skis, plus electric points for your hot wax irons. Please bring your own wax, p-tex, files etc. The ski shops in the village can also service skis.
Ski Racks: Racks for skis and snowboards are located in the ski room.
FOOD & WINE
Our approach to food and wine is what everyone wants wherever they go; namely good quality food, in sufficient quantities and well presente d. Good food and wine can turn an average holiday into an excellent one, whilst the opposite is also true! What we offer is very good quality home cooking, using only top-quality ingredients and fresh produce. Our menus are varied and slightly alternative, and it is our intention to avoid all the foods you might encounter on the slopes during the day. The chef changes the menus weekly (to keep him on his toes!), so if you intend to stay for two weeks repetition would not be a problem. One thing we promise is that we will do all we can to ensure you do not leave the table hungry or disappointed.
Breakfast: A normal day at Chalet La Sache starts with a cooked or continental breakfast. For those on their way to a heart attack, a full English breakfast can help and will be on offer two or three times a week, whilst porridge is always an option if you're Scottish! For healthier eaters, croissants, cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit will be available if you prefer a light er breakfast. Freshly brewed coffee, good quality orange juice, and English tea will be available on a daily basis.
Afternoon Tea: On your return from the slopes, warm your toes by the log fire and help yourself to home-made cake, hot chocolate, more fresh coffee and tea. Between afternoon tea and dinner there are a few hours to relax, have a beer, have a bath, feed the kids or shoot some pool.
Dinner: This is the highlight of the day, a four course menu, which consists of starter, main, dessert and cheese board. The meal is served with unlimited quantities of good quality local wines and followed with copious amounts of (yet more) fresh coffee.
Staff Day Off: On the chalet couple's day off, continental breakfast and afternoon tea will be laid out for you to help yourself, and in the evening you are free to try the local fare in Brévières village or venture further a field. There are some excellent options in the village serving traditional Savoyarde meals, especially th e renowned 'La Sachette' restaurant.
Vegetarians: With advance warning we are more than happy to cater for vegetarians, however some of the more complicated dietary requirements may not be possible. Please check with us at the time of booking, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Children's meals: We will provide separate child-friendly meals for children under 10 years old, at a time that suits both parents and chef. Please let us know in advance of any particular dislikes or likes of your children.
House Wine: Our house wine has been carefully chosen by ourselves, and is better than the average house wine. However, it may not be to everyone's taste and thus we provide a small alternative wine list should you wish to upgrade.
Fine Wines: For this year, we will be offering a small selection of better quality international wines comprising an Australian red and white (from the Rosemount Estate), a Cotes du Rhone option, and a Champagne. All these will be very reasonably priced, as we are not looking to profit from your good taste! If this experiment goes well, we will look to expand the list and our cellar over next summer. Check the services & facilities section for other offerings.
